Copper Gutters
The pinnacle of architectural guttering. Soldered seamless joints, natural patina that improves with age, and a lifespan that outlasts the roof — often by decades.
Soldered joints, natural patina,
built to outlive the home
Copper gutters are fabricated from 16 or 20 oz. copper sheet and joined with lead-free soldered seams — not caulk. Every joint is fused metal to metal, creating a watertight bond that will not crack or shrink with temperature cycles.
Fresh copper starts bright penny-orange and gradually develops a blue-green patina (verdigris) over 5–10 years. This patina is not corrosion — it is an oxide layer that actually protects the metal and is highly sought after on historic and high-end custom homes.
With proper installation, copper gutters routinely last 50–100 years. Many historic buildings still have original copper drainage systems over a century old.
Four reasons architects
specify copper gutters
Century-long lifespan
Copper does not rust or corrode in the way steel does. With soldered joints, there are no weak polymer seals to degrade. Many installations last 75–100+ years without replacement.
Zero maintenance finish
Copper never needs painting. The natural patina is a stable protective layer, not damage. Periodic debris clearing is all that's required to keep a copper system performing.
Architectural distinction
Copper adds immediate curb appeal on Tudor, Colonial, Victorian, and contemporary custom homes. Architects and historic preservation boards often require it by code.
Best long-term ROI
Higher upfront cost, but one copper installation often outlasts 3–4 aluminum replacements. When amortized over a century, the cost-per-year is remarkably competitive.

Copper requires
a specialist's hand
Design & measurement
We measure all runs, calculate drainage loads, and specify 16 or 20 oz. copper weight based on roof pitch and rainfall data for your region.
Shop fabrication
Copper sections are formed in-shop using brake presses and hand tools. Each miter and end cap is hand-fitted, then the joints are cleaned and fluxed for soldering.
Solder & hang
Joints are soldered with lead-free solder using a torch. Sections are hung on copper or stainless brackets spaced every 24" to prevent sag over decades.
Flow test & finish
We run water through the full system and check every joint under pressure. Downspouts are matched in copper or coated aluminum to complement the installation.
Investment in permanence
