Zinc Gutters
Europe's preferred architectural metal for centuries. Zinc gutters self-heal minor scratches, develop a refined matte patina, and deliver an 80+ year service life with near-zero maintenance.
Self-healing metal,
architectural patina, 80+ years
Zinc gutters are fabricated from titanium-zinc alloy (typically 99.995% zinc with trace titanium and copper for strength). The material has a unique self-healing property: when the surface is scratched, the surrounding zinc oxide migrates over the exposed area and reseals it within weeks.
Fresh zinc has a bright silver-gray sheen that gradually transitions to a matte blue-gray patina called "patina zinc." Unlike copper's green verdigris, zinc's patina is subtle and consistently elegant — a favorite of modern and Scandinavian architecture. The patina is a protective carbonate layer that actually slows further oxidation.
Zinc is particularly well-suited for coastal environments and high-humidity climates where other metals corrode faster. It outperforms aluminum in salt-air conditions and rivals copper's longevity at a significantly lower price point.
Four reasons architects
choose zinc gutters
Self-healing metal
Zinc's unique chemistry means minor surface damage seals itself automatically. No repainting, no touch-ups — the material maintains its protective layer without any intervention.
Coastal excellence
Where salt-laden air corrodes aluminum in 10–15 years, zinc thrives. The zinc carbonate patina is highly resistant to salt spray, making it the top choice for beachfront and lakefront properties.
Refined aesthetics
The matte blue-gray patina is consistently described as the most architecturally versatile finish available. It pairs with modern, industrial, and traditional styles equally well.
Near-copper longevity
At 80+ years, zinc nearly matches copper's service life at roughly half the material cost. For homeowners who want century-class durability without the copper price tag, zinc is the answer.

Precision work for
a century-class system
Climate & design assessment
We assess your local environment — salt air, humidity, freeze-thaw cycles — to confirm zinc is optimal and to spec the right wall thickness (0.7mm–1.0mm) for your conditions.
Custom fabrication
Zinc is roll-formed or brake-pressed to your exact roofline measurements. Half-round and K-style profiles are both available. Each piece is test-fitted before transport to site.
Mechanical joining & hang
Zinc sections are joined with mechanical expansion joints to accommodate thermal movement. Brackets are zinc-coated or stainless steel — never iron, which would contaminate the zinc and accelerate corrosion.
Flow test & documentation
Full water-flow test, joint inspection, and pitch verification. We provide an installation certificate for warranty registration and property records.
